Addis Ababa, June 07-2025 (ABN)

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) met today with Aliko Dangote, Africa’s leading industrialist and the founder of the Dangote Group, for high-level talks focused on strategic investment areas critical to Ethiopia’s economic development.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the two leaders held in-depth discussions on investment opportunities in sectors that address Ethiopia’s most pressing needs, including manufacturing, infrastructure, agro-processing, and job creation.

“I look forward to our continued and strengthened cooperation,” Prime Minister Abiy shared in a statement following the meeting. He emphasized the importance of sustainable and impactful partnerships with African investors to accelerate national development goals.

Aliko Dangote, whose cement operations already have a significant footprint in Ethiopia, reaffirmed his commitment to expanding investments in the country. Sources close to the talks indicated that new ventures aimed at import substitution, local value addition, and regional trade integration were among the areas discussed.

This renewed engagement signals growing confidence among continental business leaders in Ethiopia’s reform agenda and its ambition to become a manufacturing hub in the Horn of Africa.

More updates are expected in the coming weeks as technical teams from both sides begin to explore the feasibility of new projects.
