Ethiopia is intensifying its efforts to transform rural livelihoods through a strengthened partnership between the Ministry of Finance and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). A Joint Project Portfolio Review was convened today, bringing together government leaders, development experts, and project teams to evaluate ongoing initiatives and align strategies for building stronger, more resilient rural communities.
The review was officially opened by H.E. Semereta Sewasew, State Minister of Finance, alongside Mr. Mawira Chitima, IFAD Country Director, in the presence of high-level dignitaries from beneficiary sectors and Project Implementation Unit staff.

In her remarks, H.E. Semereta underscored IFAD’s pivotal role in advancing financial inclusion, food security, and smallholder empowerment in Ethiopia. She also highlighted the importance of leveraging IFAD’s support to mobilize complementary co-financing under the new IFAD cycle, ensuring sustainability and impact at scale.
The joint review reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to accelerating agricultural transformation and rural development through evidence-based collaboration and international partnerships.
