European Union and Egypt have taken a major step forward in their strategic and comprehensive partnership during a high-level event held in Brussels, marking a new phase of economic and political cooperation between the two sides.

The event was witnessed by H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and President of the Council of the European Union António Costa. During the ceremony, two significant agreements were signed, reinforcing the shared commitment to economic stability, social development, and regional partnership.

  • The first agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the second Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA), was signed with Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis, aimed at supporting Egypt’s economic reforms, strengthening fiscal stability, and enhancing resilience against global financial pressures.
  • The second agreement, a financing agreement for EU support to implement socioeconomic reforms, was signed with Commissioner Dubravka Šuica. This initiative focuses on empowering social programs, improving public services, and fostering inclusive growth for the Egyptian people.

The signing of these agreements reflects the deepening cooperation between the European Union and Egypt, emphasizing their shared vision for regional stability, sustainable development, and mutually beneficial economic ties.

European and Egyptian officials reiterated their commitment to further strengthening dialogue and investment partnerships, particularly in areas such as renewable energy, digital transformation, migration management, and trade facilitation.

As Egypt continues to implement key economic reforms under its national development agenda, the EU’s strategic support will play an essential role in promoting economic resilience and long-term growth.
