In a significant move to boost Ethiopia’s logistics infrastructure, the Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Authority has partnered with the Ethiopian Engineering Corporation to develop a state-of-the-art quality terminal and warehouse. The groundbreaking agreement was finalized today, March, 6/2025, marking a milestone in enhancing the country’s capacity to handle heavy-duty freight and improve services for both workers and customers.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Beriso Amelo, the Executive Director of the Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Authority, and Mr. Shemelis Eshetu, the Executive Director of the Ethiopian Engineering Corporation. The partnership aims to create a highly secure and efficient terminal and warehouse that will cater to the growing demand for logistics services in the region.
“This project will not only improve the working conditions for our employees but will also provide our customers with an enhanced service experience, especially during peak seasons and the rainy months,” said Dr. Beriso Amelo. The terminal is expected to accommodate heavy-duty freight carriers, ensuring smoother operations year-round.

The total project budget exceeds 510 million Birr, with a timeline of 180 days, or six months, to complete the development. The terminal will feature top-tier road access and container terminal design, providing efficient transport links within the area.
Both parties have expressed their commitment to completing the project on schedule, with Mr. Shemelis Eshetu of the Ethiopian Engineering Corporation stating, “We are dedicated to delivering this project on time and to the highest quality standards.”

Following the signing of the agreement, high-level officials from both organizations conducted a site visit, officially launching the construction of the terminal and warehouse. The project is set to transform the logistics landscape in Ethiopia, enhancing the country’s position as a key player in the region’s transport network.
