Ethio Telecom & TINNO Join Forces to Boost Digital Access in Africa

Ethio telecom’s CEO, Frehiwot Tamru, and Mr. Andy Meng, Vice President of Global Business at TINNO, met with senior leadership teams from both organizations to discuss a high-level strategic partnership aimed at expanding affordable smart device access across Ethiopia and the African continent.

The discussions focused on joint initiatives, including the introduction of cost-effective devices through an Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) model and the potential establishment of a local smart device manufacturing facility. This strategic move is expected to enhance device availability, affordability, and strengthen the continent’s broader digital ecosystem.

During the meeting, CEO Frehiwot Tamru highlighted Ethiopia’s massive customer base, extensive network infrastructure, and robust market position. She emphasized that the collaboration aligns with Ethio telecom’s three-year strategic roadmap, “Next Horizon: Digital & Beyond 2028,” which prioritizes device penetration, digital literacy, and empowering underserved communities, particularly in rural areas.

TINNO reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with Ethio telecom on affordable device solutions, supporting the establishment of a local manufacturing plant, and acknowledged Ethio telecom’s leadership and growth potential in driving digital transformation across Africa.
